Navigator Switch Replacement

Repair Instructions

The navigator switches used in the SARK-110 are SMD components, which in case of failure they can be easily removed from the main board using a hot air gun. Take care to not overheat the surrounding components. It is a good measure using aluminium foil to protect the other components and ensure that the heat is directed only to the switch.

If the hot air gun is not available, a good solution will be to break the metal frame from the sides with a cutter pliers or a Dremel tool, being careful not to pull the pads off the board. Also, the contact leads will need to be cut to facilitate the desoldering. Then desolder the leads and pads with an iron and clean them with the iron and desoldering braid. Finally put the connector in place and carefully solder the metal frame support pads and contact pads using a thin-tipped iron.
